Dating Tips for Grown Ups: Part 1

Finding love is never easy and after a certain age it seems to get even harder. I think this is especially true for those of us that didn’t grow up with much technology. When I first started dating, the only way to meet people was in school, at work or at some kind of social gathering usually put on by your friends or family. So I can imagine that the older you are, the less online dating seems like a viable or natural way to find real love. In fact it can be a little scary.

But the crazy part is- it works! I meet couple after couple that met online. And so, I find myself wanting to share my knowledge and answer questions to help the whole process feel more natural, especially for my single clients over the age of 40.

CLIENT QUESTION: “I’m 52 and want to start dating again, but I’m not sure where to start.  What do you suggest?”

There are so many dating sites and apps to choose from these days that it can be a little overwhelming. But I do have one that I recommend. It’s called Love Begins Atand is specifically designed for singles over the age of 40.

I was recently approached by this UK based dating site. It is currently in the midst of launching here in the US and they asked me to share some of my photography expertise in the form of an ongoing blog column. I think the site has huge potential and I am very excited to share what I have learned over the years as a social media photographer with a larger online dating world. Tinder and OKCupid are great for people in their 20s and 30s, but for people who are not used to online dating, they can be intimidating and fast paced. Not to mention that other people in that age range just simply aren’t hanging out there! You want to sign up for a site where your future partner will be signed up, and that’s why I think a specialized site like Love Begins At is such a good idea.
